The free tier uses Whisper via a local model — meaning transcription works fully offline once you've downloaded the model (about 140 MB, downloaded on first launch). The Pro tier uses a faster cloud model for priority processing, which requires an internet connection.
Speeko runs on Windows 10 (version 1903 and later) and Windows 11. It does not currently support macOS or Linux, though those versions are on the roadmap.
No. Voice recordings are processed locally on your device and are never sent to our servers. For Pro users, audio is sent over an encrypted connection to our transcription model and immediately discarded after processing — we do not store, log, or analyse your audio or transcription content.
Yes — Speeko works in any application that accepts keyboard input. This includes browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox), email clients, IDEs (VS Code, JetBrains), Microsoft Office, Notion, Slack, Discord, terminals, and more. If you can place a text cursor there, Speeko can paste into it.
Speeko uses OpenAI Whisper, one of the most accurate open speech recognition models available. In standard conditions (clear voice, no heavy background noise) you can expect 97–99% word accuracy in English. Accuracy may vary in noisy environments or with very strong accents.
The Free plan gives you unlimited basic transcription using the local Whisper model — everything you need for everyday dictation. Pro unlocks AI Smart Edit (automatic filler-word removal and grammar correction), Context Detection (auto-formatting for email vs. code), Tone Control, priority cloud transcription, and all future Pro features.
The installer is 2.4 MB. On first launch, Speeko downloads the Whisper base model (~140 MB) in the background while you use the app — you'll see a small progress indicator in the bar. After that, everything runs locally with no additional downloads.
